Ugh, writing. The self critical voice is a useful one, no doubt, but not always when you're in the middle of trying to write something you know isn't the best, but the voice in your head that second guesses every word choice makes you so paranoid you can't actually make it any better. Gah! The Cheese Factor, it's a literary tar pit.

I have learned to create a line of separation between writer and editor. Write freely, and don't worry about the details. Then come back and edit.
Then let the self critical voice do its thing...
Yes! I usually manage that. There is also the voice that says, go look at facebook... :(
tell it to shut the fuck up and keep writing, darling. i promise. it works. and if it doesn't. la-la-la-i-can't-hear-you works wonders. so does Nine Inch Nails at top volume.
the more you write, the softer that nagging voice gets.

Heh, thanks. I think in this case though, I just wrote something that could have been an illustrated girl's magazine story from 1989. Bunty, here we come.
